People often ask me, “how did you get started working with dogs?”. To which I answer, “I got a dog”. And that’s the truth, I got a Pit Bull puppy on a whim, and I had no idea how to raise him.
When I was a kid we had 2 dogs, Kuma and Flapjack, who were really poorly behaved. We loved them, but we definitely didn’t spend enough time with them. They jumped all over us, barked until the neighbors called animal control and even made me go airborne, face first through a thorn bush on a walk (apparently cats are fun to chase).
I reasoned that having a well behaved dog would be more fun, so I started watching The Dog Whisperer on tv, going to dog training workshops, reading dog related books, scientific studies and buying every dog training DVD I could get my hands on. Thanks to all my studying and hard work with my own dog, my friends and family soon took notice of my passion and ability with dogs.
I decided early on that we would only hire dog lovers who love what they do which is why I believe our customers are willing to pay a little extra for our training, daycare and dog walking services.
We’ve grown from one guy doing everything himself for a handful of customers in 2007 to 16 dedicated dog lovers caring for dogs all over Salt Lake Valley. We’ve been lucky enough to hire people who are as passionate and driven as I am about improving the lives of dogs; my managers constantly push me towards continuing our education as a team and to improve the quality of our pet care services.
