Why Training Tools Are Essential To Our Mission

Hey there,

I wanted to share something important about how we keep dogs safe at TWP – and why our approach might seem different from other facilities you’ve visited.

At most facilities, when dogs start showing warning signs:

  • Too much sniffing
  • Rough play
  • Humping

The staff can only give verbal warnings, try body blocking, or leash the dog. By the time these methods fail, a fight has already started.

Then it’s damage control time:

  • Spray the dogs with water
  • Yelling
  • Pulling dogs apart

We do things differently. We intervene as soon as warning signs are seen, preventing fights before they happen.

The result? Facilities that don’t use tools have weekly fights. We rarely have fights. In fact, we haven’t had one in over a year thanks to our highly trained staff and our thoughtful use of tools.

A firm, timely correction from us is infinitely kinder than what another dog would do. When we correct a dog for pestering another, we’re preventing that dog from getting bitten.

Many of our customers initially wanted their dogs to just “run free” without structure. After seeing their dogs thrive here – or after bad experiences elsewhere – they get it.

They tell us they’ll drive further and pay more because we actually help their dogs rather than just managing chaos.

With TWP, your dog learns real social skills. The pushy dogs learn boundaries. The shy dogs feel protected. Everyone relaxes because they know we’re watching.

This is what separates TWP from everywhere else. We’re not okay with dogs being left to figure it out themselves. We prevent problems, teach excellence, and everything we can to keep dogs safe.

Your friend with treat-filled pockets,

Ryan
