I was walking with a client a few months ago when her Lab spotted a group of pigeons across the street. In an instant, her 70-pound “good boy” transformed into a sled dog on a mission, nearly yanking her shoulder out of socket!
Do you dread walking your dog because they pull like crazy every time they see a bird? Trust me, I get it.
So many dog owners tell me they’ve basically given up on nice walks. Their daily dog walks have turned into stressful, arm-straining events that nobody looks forward to. And letting their kids walk the dog? No way – they’re scared their pup will pull the kids right off their feet!
One client told me she stopped taking her Border Collie to the park entirely because the bird situation made walks completely unbearable. “I feel so guilty,” she admitted. “I know she needs exercise, but I can’t handle getting dragged around anymore.”
Good news: We can fix this.
I’ve spent years developing a training approach specifically for dogs with high prey drives and bird obsessions. Our Marvelous Mutt 4-Week Board and Train program has transformed even the most determined bird-chasers into pleasant walking companions.
Here’s what we do during the 4 weeks:
We teach your dog to walk nicely on a leash in controlled environments. This is where we establish the basics of leash manners without any distractions.
We help them learn to stay calm when they see toys, treats, other dogs, and people. We use careful exposure to gradually build their tolerance.
We show them how to pay attention to you outside, instead of everything else. This is the critical skill that most training programs miss!
We get them walking beside you instead of yanking your arm off, even in environments with birds present.
Just imagine: Going for walks that don’t hurt your shoulder. Being able to chat with a friend while walking your dog instead of constantly bracing for the next lunge. Actually enjoying time outside with your dog!
One client recently texted me a photo of her 8-year-old daughter walking their formerly bird-obsessed Shepherd mix. “I never thought this would be possible,” she wrote. “We can all walk him now!”
The most important part of our program happens after the training ends. We don’t just train your dog and send them home. We make sure you know exactly what to do to keep up the good work after training ends.
Every graduate of our program receives:
We only have a few spots each week. Here’s how to enroll your dog:
Don’t let crazy walks keep you from enjoying your dog. This program will make walks better for everyone in your family.
Looking forward to helping you and your pup,
Ryan
P.S. These spots go fast! Enroll today so you don’t have to wait for weeks and weeks. Your shoulders (and your dog) will thank you!
