How much Kennel time is appropriate for a dog.

How Much Time Will my Dog Spend in a Kennel?

I often get asked, “How much time will my dog spend in a kennel?” It’s a great question, and the answer really depends on your dog’s needs.

Our social classes run from 9 am to 12 pm and again from 1 pm to 4 pm, giving your pup a total of 6 hours of social time each day! Some dogs thrive with this level of interaction and enjoy the full 6 hours. However, most dogs prefer shorter play sessions, usually around an hour, before needing a break. Puppies, in particular, may want to play endlessly but can become overexcited and need naps to stay balanced.

Optimized Schedule for Social Confidence

We’ve optimized our schedule to develop young pups into socially confident dogs with polite play habits. We pay close attention to each dog’s needs, ensuring they have a positive experience and form good habits. This approach helps your dog lead a happier, more playful, and less stressful life—just like we do with our own dogs.

The Myth of Maximum Freedom

Many customers believe their dog needs maximum freedom to play all day. But imagine if your child had recess all day at school. It would be lots of fun at first but would definitely lead to issues. We’ve seen similar results with dogs given too much playtime. Bad habits quickly develop, like bullying, rude play, and even fights.

Benefits of a Structured Approach

Our structured approach offers numerous benefits:

  • Safety: We have an impressive safety record, with just one fight in the last five years, even though we work with some of the trickiest dogs to socialize in the state.
  • Good Habits: Dogs learn to play politely, building confidence and fostering a culture of trust and friendliness.
  • Reduced Stress: Unlike other social classes where dogs can be overwhelmed and bullied, we ensure a fun environment where dogs aren’t in fight or flight mode. If your dog comes home exhausted for days after daycare, it’s likely due to stress rather than healthy play. A well-structured day at daycare should leave them feeling good, not exhausted.

Evolution of Dog Daycare

The dog daycare industry has evolved from zero social time to letting dogs play all day. While the latter might seem ideal, it can be overwhelming for many dogs. My journey from a struggling dog owner to a professional trainer showed me that a balanced approach is best.

Our Commitment to Your Dog’s Well-being

We provide a well-structured environment, guided by trained professionals, to help your dog make good decisions throughout the day. We ensure your dog has the right mix of play, rest, and guidance, helping them become a well-behaved, confident companion.

We go above and beyond to get to know your dog as if they were our own, with a ratio of 1 trainer per 5-10 dogs compared to the industry standard of 1 per 20-40 dogs. Your dog will thrive thanks to our personalized attention and high-quality care.
